Course Description

The ALTUS Precision Rifle Introduction Course is designed for students that are entering the world of long-range rifle marksmanship. Whether you are wanting to shoot long-range competition, or even apply knowledge learned as an outdoorsman, this is the course for you! The challenges of engaging targets at distance can be intimidating to say the least and setting individual equipment up properly for you as the shooter is the first crucial step that is often overlooked. The intro course will first teach and help the shooter build solid shooting fundamentals. As the student progresses, we will collect engagement data for each shooter ensuring that they will be able to use their information and apply it at any location to successfully engage targets up to 1,000 yards and beyond. Additionally, the intro course will teach students to diagnose and troubleshoot their rifles, understand the capabilities of their optics, and to use an optics reticle to properly gauge distance and engage targets successfully. Each student will graduate the course with a solid foundational knowledge of marksmanship, precision rifle equipment set up and techniques to continue to drive their ability and rifle to it’s fullest potential.

This is a crawl, walk, jog course where we start with the basics and move on, if a student consistently demonstrates unsafe behaviors during the course, we will do our best to correct but further infractions could result in being removed from the course

ALTUS 2 Day PR course review

Posted by Dr Keith J on Oct 30th 2023

It is rare to find such a high quality course that combines a five star facility with a five star coach/instructor, such as Stewart with his real world experience. This two day comprehensive precision rifle course brings to the table all the tools necessary to learn how to reach out and hit targets past 900 yards. As a novice, I found the learning atmosphere friendly and the classroom basics were a game changer, truly the best firearms course I have ever taken!

ALTUS 2 DAY Precision Rifle Course Review

As a veteran and current recreational shooter, I can rate the training facility, lodging facility, and instruction, as one of the best that I have attended. Ferg was outstanding as an instructor, he very concisely presented all the information necessary in a fashion that everyone in the class was able to apply in the field. Despite the broad range of experience, from a first time shooter to a competition shooter he maintained our attention and everyone improved their skills. Of note the novice shooter was hiiting steel at 850+ yards at the end of day one. His real life experience translated to an awesome course, which culminated in some friendly competition to close out our training on Day 2. I look forward to the opportunity to train again with Ferg. The course met and surpassed my expectations!

This class and facility are top notch. Ferg is an experienced instructor making him able to stay organized and adapt the class to it's students abilities. At the end of day one, Ferg had a student in our class who had never shot before getting hits out to 850+ yards (making his own calculations and scope adjustments)! He found the right balance of safety, fun, and instruction to make it 100% worth the time and financial investment. This facility can't be beat for learning how to shoot between 300 and 1,000 yards. In regards to the bunk house, do not be worried about staying in a barracks situation. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of privacy! The place is clean, there is plenty of cooking and eating hardware, so just bring your food and enjoy the ultimate AirBNB. The gym equipment is excellent, and their Starlink interwebs works really well for all your communication needs.

    9/2023 2 Day PRS Course

Facility is A No.1, First Class. Only seconded to Stewart Ferguson's ("Fergs") instruction. It was the perfect combination of class room and range time to implement the techniques discussed in a R DUB (Real World) setting; preparing us to compete. I just signed up for my first PRS competition September 30th, 2023! Highly recommend this course and any others at this facility. The staff are best of the best!
