The development of the golden-boy 6.5 mm Creedmoor cartridge has led the industry towards many different directions. It didn't take long for shooters and engineers to catch on to the 6.5 Creed's goldilocks characteristics for short-action cartridges. Naturally wildcatters started doing what they do best and began experimenting with different bullet diameters.

This particular necked-down 6.5 Creedmoor variant pushes heavy .224" bullets at blistering velocities. In this regard, the .22 Creedmoor could be reminiscent of the .22-250, one of its spiritual forefathers. However, unlike its "ancestor" the 22 Creedmoor is able to push its bullets flatter and further thanks to the modern highly-efficient bullets it is loaded with.

22 Creedmoor began life as one such wildcat back in the 2010s, as the intellectual property of Horizon Firearms. With the help of Hornady in 2023, the 22 Creedmoor got its SAAMI standardization and started hitting the mainstream.
